Rock Hill Chiropractor Dr. Brian D. Hughes
“I didn’t have much choice in the matter,” says Dr. Brian Hughes.
“Both of my grandfathers, my father, many of my aunts, uncles and cousins throughout the country are all chiropractors! In fact, I think that I am the 23rd chiropractor in my family! After hearing all of my life from total strangers how their quality of life was improved after seeing one of the various chiropractors in my family, I knew that I too wanted to make that kind of difference in people’s lives”.
“I received my first chiropractic adjustment when I was less than one day old. I am one of the few lucky ones that have been able to see first hand the benefits of a life of continued chiropractic care. I get excited coming to work every morning knowing that today may be the day that I make a big difference in an individuals life”, said Dr. Brian.
My Education
Dr. Brian began his pre-chiropractic studies at Francis Marion University in Florence South Carolina where he studied the basic sciences such as inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, physics, along with basic physiology and anatomy courses while obtaining his Bachelors of Science degree in Biology.
After completing his study there, he was accepted at Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. During his four years at Palmer, courses included biochemistry, a major emphasis on anatomy and human physiology, X-ray, diagnosis, chiropractic adjusting techniques and patient care in the Palmer College Public Clinic. After graduating in 2005 Dr. Brian returned to practice in Rock Hill with his father in the same clinic that his grandfather began in 1939. Since that time, Dr. Brian Hughes has gone on to be awarded as South Carolina's 2008 Young Chiropractor of the Year by the South Carolina Chiropractic Association.
“We feel like our patients are part of our extended family,” smiles Dr. Hughes. “It is a great joy seeing some of the grandchildren, great grandchildren, and even great, great grandchildren of the patients that my grandfather used to see. The ongoing relationships that we have with our patients makes coming to work every day worth while”.
Outside of the Office...
Dr. Brian and Dr. Iva are married and are blessed to have two wonderful sons (Ayden and Brady). Dr. Brian and Dr. Iva met while attending Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport Iowa, and enjoy working together on a daily basis. Away from work, they enjoy spending quality time as a family. “We try to go on walks, bike rides, or anything else to keep active. We find if we do that we feel better physically and mentally”.
