Rock Hill Chiropractor Dr. Douglas Hughes Jr.

"As the son of a chiropractor, I always thought that chiropractic was a little......weird."
It was not until I had a sports injury that I truly appreciated the value of Chiropractic. The initial medical diagnosis indicated surgery may be needed. However, after my dad examined me and performed gentle chiropractic treatments, I recovered quickly and was back playing sports within just 2 weeks. My other friends with similar injuries were lost for the rest of the season! I was amazed at my results and could not understand why anyone would consider surgery as a 1st option to conservative chiropractic care.
Education
Dr. Hughes began his pre-chiropractic education at the University of South Carolina where he studied many of the basic sciences and courses required before being accepted into Chiropractic College.
After completing his study there, Dr. Hughes was accepted at Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. During his four years at Palmer, courses included biochemistry, a major emphasis on anatomy and human physiology, X-ray, diagnosis, chiropractic adjusting techniques and delivering patient care in the Palmer College Public Clinic as the head Grostic intern. After graduating in 1977, Dr. Hughes returned to Rock Hill to begin practice with his father.
On a Personal Note...
Dr. Hughes is delighted to have three wonderful children (Brian, Hailey, and Hannah) and two "perfect grandsons" (Ayden & Brady). Dr. Hughes loves yard work, carpentry, handyman renovations, and playing with his grandchildren.
"I feel my body is physical, mental, and spiritual and I'm only as strong as my weakest link. For this reason, I work out at the YMCA about 5 days a week and run/walk and average of 10 miles each week. I love to read inspirational and motivational books and magazines which challenge my mind as well as chiropractic and medical journals on the advancements in health care. I am a member of 1st Baptist church where I was raised and feel my spiritual life is the foundation on which I must build my life and my daily way of living."
